KidCare America is providing the faith community across the nation the competence it needs to start and run a mentoring after-school program that will change the lives of students spiritually, emotionally and academically.
Here are some answers to a few questions you might have:
How Long Does the ITraining Last?
Five consecutive weeks
What Happens Each Week?
Each training participant will be involved in two 90 minute Audio teaching sessions led by the KidCare America training team. In addition, each Learning Director will follow the syllabus and read an article, listen to a podcast, CD, watch a DVD, or read a portion of a book and then reflect what they learned in an online courseroom.
How Much Time Does it Take each Week?
The time will vary from person to person, however, it is estimated that the Learning Director will need to spend 7 to 10 hours a week on the assigned work.
Will I Receive a Textbook or Training Manual?
Yes, a training manual not a textbook. The training manual will be the master manual you will use to train your staff and volunteers. Once you have registered and your place has been confirmed in the courseroom you will receive your manual via email as a PDF file.
Will I need any Special Equipment?
No. All you need is a phone and an internet connection. If you are hosting a listening site (which we will explain in the next question) you will need a good speaker phone.
What is the cost of the ITraining?
The ITraining for one individual is $425.00 (The National KidCare America Office will provide funding ideas to help you raise the money to pay for training). In addition, the ITraining opens up the possibility of having others join the Learning Director during training. Your church can become a Listening Site. Invite others to join you in helping launch the KidCare America/Thrive Student Center for an additional $99 per person. The additional cost does not apply to other church leaders from another church, it only applies to those attending the church where the Center will launch. (To receive some ideas on how to raise the money for attending the ITraining call Dr. Mike Ferguson at 1-417-866-8864 ext 2)
Will I have others to Learn with?
Yes. Each Learning Director will journey their five weeks and beyond in a cohort of nine other learners. A Cohort of no more than 10 potential Directors will learn, question, develop, and work together to launch their KidCare America/Thrive Student Centers. This number will always be kept small to ensure adequate mentoring and help from the National KidCare America training team.
Be sure to register early each Cohort will have only 10 ITraining "seats". Don't miss your next opportunity to lead and exciting after-school program in your community! Click here to see the training schedule.
